First and foremost, welcome to my new website as a whole and my new updated blog posts. A massive part of my life finished a couple of weeks ago and that's education, for now anyway. I have just completed my degree within Makeup and Hair for Media and Theatre, what a heap load of work it's been! I can't really say it was more work than I expected, as you hear many past and current student's constantly complaining about the amount of study, so I was well informed on what I was getting myself into. I probably ignored the signs and thought I'd take it in my stride, it'll be easy I thought... but no, you've definitely got to work for your outcome and just scraping by with bare minimum is not desired. The classic "you get out what you put in" applies here. Speaking of grades, I do not yet know exactly what I have achieved, I'll be waiting till the end of the summer for a crisp white envelope with contents that will reveal all. Fingers crossed for me, please!
This has been a massive part of my life for the last couple of years and I'm extremely proud of myself for using this opportunity to grow as a makeup artist. Before going into this University course I already held a two Level 3's within makeup and hairdressing. You can never stop learning and the further study time has allowed me to digest the information and skills to where I am completely confident with my craft. Within this journey, I have learnt so many skills such as:
Historically accurate period hair and makeup we're talking the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans
Accurate makeup throughout the decades (1920's style party? I'm your girl)
Bald cap application and making
Special effects of all sorts, silicone, foam etc
Body painting techniques
Wig-making and application
It is all vital and essential knowledge that I have obtained to sustain a creative and fulfilling career. Now that I have more time on my hands, who knows what I'll get up to and be able to show you. The creativeness can run free! I absolutely love the line of work which I have fallen into with my beautiful brides and glamorous ladies but it's awesome to mix things up, isn't it. Keep an eye out for the use of these new skills in self-invested projects on my social media pages, links found here: Facebook // Instagram. If we can get a few photographers and models on board then you will be seeing them enter my portfolio over in my gallery section for this website. If you haven't check out my galleries already then be sure to have a nose, you might even find something inspiring yourself.
It's been lovely sharing this information with you, speak soon!
